PRAYER TEAM

The Prayer Team is vital to the life and future of our church. The prayer team is a ministry of intercession for our church’s leaders, partners, ministries, and our region. Prayer is foundational to the fulfillment of the plans and purposes of God concerning Light City Church. 

The Light City prayer team’s mission is to connect deeply with our Father, to release His will in the earth, & serve Him through intercession. We intercede for our Lead Pastors, church family, for our region and country. Intercessors support the work of the ministry and serve helpers to the vision that the Lord has granted to the Lead Pastors of our church. The intercessor works as part of the pastor’s team to see the vision come forth.

This ministry is one that draws you closer to God and leads you to earnestly seek the face of God as you present the needs of others by standing in the gap for them.

Intercession is a selfless act that requires you to consistently bring the needs of others before God. 

Intercessors that show a willingness to make sacrifices are anointed and chosen by God to be on the front lines, to hold up the arms of the leader(s) of the church by going before God on a consistent basis to receive protection and guidance for those who are being prayed for as well as for yourself. 

The word of God says, “….to watch and pray” (Matthew 26:41) and “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). 

As intercessors, we are always on a spiritual wall looking and discerning the times. Intercessors are to sound the alarm at the first sight of trouble, but also spiritually discern when a person is hurting and/or is in need of encouragement.

Prayer team members are committed to the following:

-Committed to serve on the prayer team for a minimum of 6 months.

-Committed to actively pursuing a lifestyle of holiness and a life that aligns with the Word God. 

-Committed to being a person of prayer who regularly reads and meditates on the Word of God, and daily seeks to be led by the Spirit.

-Committed to regularly attending weekly Saturday prayer meetings. (Prayer team members are allotted to be absent only four Saturday prayer meetings per quarter, team coordinators will maintain weekly attendance). 

-Committed to arriving each Sunday at 1:50 PM to intercede for service & Pastors on Sundays.

-Committed to being accountable and communicating with team coordinators concerning absences, personal needs, and intercessory insights. 

-Committed to attend Wednesday Prayer Room as schedule permits. (This not mandatory, but highly recommended)

-Committed to attend urgent prayer meetings called by Lead Pastors or team coordinators.

-Committed to participate in fasting and prayer as directed by Lead Pastors or team coordinators.

-Committed to participate in development workshops, training and conferences as they are made aware of them.

-Committed to confidentiality. Confidentiality is extremely important when personal information is shared or revealed during the ministry time. Under no circumstances is any personal information to be shared with anyone outside of the prayer team.
